When Jesus reached Gadara on the other side, He was met by two demoniacs who came out from the tombs. They were so fierce that no one dared to pass that way. Suddenly they shouted, «What do you want with us, you, Son of God? Have you come to torture us before the time?». At some distance away there was a large herd of pigs feeding. So the demons begged him, «If you drive us out, send us into that herd of pigs». Jesus ordered them, «Go». So they left and went into the pigs. The whole herd rushed down the cliff into the lake and drowned. The men in charge of them ran off to the town, where they told the whole story, also what had happened to the men possessed with the demons. Then the whole town went out to meet Jesus; and when they saw him, they begged him to leave their area.

Analysis
Today's passage describes one of the times when Jesus drove out demons. There is only several remarkable things about the passage, even if it seemed long. If I was not wrong, this took place after Jesus calmed the storm, when Jesus arrived on the shores, He saw some people possessed by demons. These demons begged Jesus not to torture them, and that if they are to be ordered out, they wish to be sent into the pigs. Jesus agreed and sent the demons into the horde of pigs, and the pigs committed suicide by jumping off the cliff and drowning in the lake. The event was then spread widely, and finally Jesus was asked to leave by the area in the residents, even when He had just saved the possessed people.
First of all, it is important to recognize that these demons are not actual demons, they are merely absolutely depraved souls, and that is not an exaggeration. What is interesting is the fact that the spirits thought Jesus wishes to torture them. This is most likely due to their self inferiority and guilt for their past sins, and they are paranoid that eventually they will have to be tortured, even when they have been tortured. It seems the spirits were desperate for freedom, which is why they killed the pigs that was attached to them, so that their attachment to this world is broken.
There is one thing that caught my eye, the fact that Jesus was asked to leave, why? There are several reasons I can think of, that is Jesus is a disturbance to the area, Jesus is a threat to the area, and they thought Jesus is a madman. Of course, Jesus' exorcist act probably disrupted the local economy with that porky suicide. And this isn't the first time Jesus was rejected, and there has been times where Jesus was thought to be madman. It's not surprising really, if a man of high wisdom came to a group of insane lunatics, it is the wise man that would be thought as an insane lunatic. And if Jesus came for the second time, I don't think that fact would change. As such, I believe that is all I have to say, have a nice day and see you tomorrow.
